The Pseudo Hippies were a British pop punk band which formed in 1991. Kris Beltrami (Vocals/Guitar), Tom Worden (Guitar/BV), Danny Morrison (Drums), Adam French (Bass). The group released a 4 song 7" and a split 7" with the Dipsomaniacs on Germany's Nasty Vinyl. Shortly after the split 7", they changed their name to Wact. Wact released a split 7" with emo rockers Couch Potatoes and then split in Oct 1995.
The search...
Hit the rewind button back to 1994. A friend at the time gave me a cassette that his ex-girlfriend got from her ex-boyfriend. All that was written on the tape was 'Good Shit'. I discovered many 'new' bands on this tape (lots of Fat and Lookout! bands). There was one song that managed to go unidentified for 10+ years. It was a simple 3 chord pop punk song. The sound quality on the tape was pretty muddy, so I figured the song was called 'My Little Girl'. At least that's what I thought they were saying.
The evidence:
I bought records from bands on Lookout thinking/hoping "This is it!". No luck. I even called Lookout in the summer of 1996 and talked to 2 or 3 people, explaining my 'dilemma' and then playing the song over the phone. No one knew who the song was by. I gave up searching but never forgot about it.
I made a few posts over a couple years about it on the 'Pop Punk Bored'. Dave from The Parasites informed me that the song was called 'Bubble Gum' and it was by a band from the U.K. called the Pseudo Hippies (Thanks, Dave!). The next day, I found a copy of the ep on ebay. A couple months later I found the Pseudo Hippies/Dipsomaniacs split on ebay, too. Turns out the seller was a member of Fun Bug/Identity and sent me the 7", along with some notes, flyers, and a live PH/Fun Bug live dvd (Thanks, Jason!).
Note : If anyone knows the titles of the 'unknown' songs, has the final PH demo or any material from Wact, please hook me up! Enjoy!

Don't you hate it when you do an original, well-researched post and no one leaves any damn comments!?!
Maybe that's just me.
Good work. I love solved musical mysteries.
Dear jeffen.
You just brightened up my day.
I was in the pseudo hippies and wrote their songs.
Reading a letter i wrote nearly 20 years ago is kinda weird.I was so young and eager.
thank you for your posting.
So four years since the last comment on this - I bet you aren't monitoring it anymore but what the hell, right? I had the Bubble Gum single and brought it with me to play on my last radio show on KALX in Berkeley, and proceeded to LEAVE IT AT THE STATION! I went back the next day when I realized what I had done and no one had seen it and I never got it back. I don't know what prompted me to search for it today, but lo and behold, here it is and the link still works!! Added fun note - it was Mel from Shredder Records that first turned me on to it; likely Dave P and the boys were still on the label at the time he told you the name of the song. Great post and happy to have found it today!!
Have you found all the song titles?
